Are We Raising Resilient Children? Let’s Talk About What’s Really Going On

There’s a theory I’ve been mulling over recently, and I wanted to share it with you. It’s about the rising levels of anxiety in young people. 🧠 Now, a lot of people like to pin this problem on the COVID-19 pandemic. And sure, it didn’t help—but I don’t think it was the root cause. Anxiety in children was already an issue long before lockdowns came along. So what is the cause? That’s what I’m interested in exploring—and I’d love to hear your thoughts too. When I was growing up, mental health wasn’t something that got much attention. If you had ADHD, you were labelled as naughty. If you were autistic, you were seen as weird. There wasn’t much nuance or support—just labels. But that said, I don’t remember as many mainstream kids struggling as intensely as they seem to now. The scale and complexity of what today’s children are dealing with feels different. I heard a story recently on a podcast that really made me think. A parent (I think it was a mum, but I’ll need to find the exact episode) allowed her son to go into town by himself. He had clear instructions, he knew the route, he had a set time to return, and he was well-prepared. She shared this on social media—and the backlash was enormous. People were calling her irresponsible. Some even accused her of not caring about her child’s safety. All because she gave him a bit of independence. This mum ended up researching the feedback she received, trying to understand whether her instincts were wrong or whether society had just changed. It got me reflecting on my own childhood. By the time I was seven, I was walking myself to school—about a 20-minute walk each way. I had my own front door key, and I’d play out with friends until it got dark. As I got older, I’d take myself into town, jump on the bus, and go shopping with mates. We were self-sufficient. Nowadays, a lot of that freedom has disappeared. Yes, we’re more safety-conscious—but have we gone too far? Are we raising children who are overprotected and underprepared? Combine that with instant gratification (everything’s a tap away on a phone), the constant comparisons on social media, and the pressure to look perfect… and it’s no wonder anxiety levels are up. When I look at the work we do through NLP4Kids, I see that we’re not just offering tools for managing emotions—we’re offering a lifeline for children to build resilience, confidence, and independence. And that’s exactly why our children’s franchise exists. We’re giving professionals the skills and structure to help young people develop coping mechanisms, emotional literacy, and problem-solving abilities—skills that are more necessary than ever in today’s world. The practitioners in our children’s franchise often tell us that they’re not just making a difference in children’s lives—they’re also helping families shift their perspectives. Encouraging parents to let go just enough to give their kids the freedom to grow. And that’s why we’re so proud of the model we’ve built. This isn’t just a business—it’s a movement. A mission to empower the next generation through mental and emotional development. If you’ve ever thought about joining a children’s franchise that creates meaningful change, I’d love to hear from you. And if you’ve got thoughts on this shift in parenting and anxiety, drop me a message. I’d genuinely love to hear your view. 😊 By Gemma Bailey (with the help of Ai) https://nlp4kids.org/becoming-a-licensee

Revolutionising Early Childhood Education: The Franchise Model

Early childhood education is a critical stage in a child’s development, and children's education franchises are revolutionising this space. By offering a franchise model that combines innovation with accessibility, these franchises are making high-quality education available to more families. The franchise model is particularly effective in early childhood education because it ensures consistency and quality. Franchisees receive comprehensive training and support, enabling them to deliver a standardised curriculum that meets the needs of young learners. This consistency is crucial in building trust with parents and creating a positive reputation. One of the key innovations in this space is the focus on holistic development. Children's education franchises recognise that early childhood is not just about academic learning; it’s also about social, emotional, and physical growth. Programmes are designed to nurture all aspects of a child’s development, laying a strong foundation for future success. Gemma Bailey’s work with NLP4Kids highlights the importance of early intervention. By addressing challenges at a young age, she has helped children build confidence and resilience. Similarly, children's education franchises are making a lasting impact by providing a supportive and stimulating environment for young learners. For entrepreneurs, the franchise model offers a proven path to success. With a growing demand for quality early childhood education, investing in a children's education franchise is a smart and rewarding choice. Lessons from the Past That Shaped the NLP4Kids of Today

Today I want to share with you the story behind NLP4Kids—how it started, how it’s evolved, and how it became a successful and sustainable children’s franchise for professionals who want to make a difference in the lives of young people. It all began back in 2004 when I was taking my NLP Trainers Training. During the course, my friend Kay gave me a piece of advice that would completely shape my future. She suggested that instead of just doing what everyone else was doing—offering the same NLP courses to the same adult audience—I should consider finding a niche. At the time, I was still working as a nanny, having previously been a nursery nurse and part of the NHS health visiting team. Her suggestion to use NLP with children made perfect sense, and so that’s exactly what I did. We began delivering workshops for children, teaching them NLP skills in fun and practical ways. I also integrated NLP into my one-to-one therapy sessions with young clients, and while I worried that specialising in children might put adults off, it actually had the opposite effect. People saw the specialism as a sign of professionalism and credibility. Eventually, I started getting asked how I was adapting the techniques for younger minds. That’s when I began building what we now call the NLP4Kids Silver Level Training—a programme designed specifically for working with children and young people. Even from those early days, I knew I wanted this to be more than just a course. I wanted to build a children’s franchise—something with structure, standards, and ongoing support. Too often, people were attending NLP trainings who either shouldn’t be there, or who had no intention of putting the skills to use long-term. I wanted to work with people who were serious about creating a business and who were ready to be held accountable. In the beginning, I didn’t know much about franchising, and I attracted a lot of people from the self-development world. They had passion, but often lacked the business mindset to succeed. I gave them websites, mentoring, marketing resources—you name it—but many didn’t follow through. Then along came Mark, a business mentor who had experience in the franchise world. He scouted me out and we met to talk through the problems I was facing. At that point, I was running a model that offered lifetime support in exchange for a one-off training fee. Unsurprisingly, that wasn’t sustainable. Practitioners weren’t paying me anymore, but they were still calling for support, asking for marketing, and expecting website hosting—all while contributing nothing financially. Mark encouraged me to return to the original idea: a monthly fee, ongoing accountability, and the tools needed for business success. Most importantly, he told me to stop marketing only to the NLP community and start advertising in children’s franchise directories. The impact was immediate. We began attracting a new wave of practitioners—people who genuinely wanted to build a business helping children and were willing to take the necessary steps to do so. These days, we track practitioner performance closely. We know how many hours they’re working, how much income they’re generating, and if things start to dip, they get booked in for a mentoring call with me to discuss what’s going on. That’s part of why our franchise works—because we care about results, not just feel-good moments. And I’m pleased to say, the model is working. We rarely lose practitioners. Those who leave tend to do so at the end of their licence, usually because they’re retiring or moving into a new therapeutic path. The vast majority renew, and there’s no resistance to paying the monthly fee—because they know what they’re getting in return. So, if you’ve ever thought about being part of a children’s franchise that offers real support, measurable outcomes, and a chance to make a lasting impact… this might just be the sign you were waiting for. 😊 By Gemma Bailey (with the help of Ai) https://nlp4kids.org/becoming-a-licensee

Bridging Play and Learning: Strategies in Children's Education Franchises

Children learn best when they are engaged and having fun. This is the guiding principle behind the strategies employed by children's education franchises. By bridging the gap between play and learning, these franchises create an environment where children are eager to explore and discover. One of the most effective strategies is the use of hands-on activities. Whether it’s building a model, conducting a science experiment, or solving a puzzle, these activities make abstract concepts tangible and relatable. This approach not only enhances understanding but also fosters creativity and problem-solving skills. Another key strategy is the integration of technology. Many children's education franchises use interactive tools and digital platforms to make learning more dynamic and accessible. From virtual classrooms to educational apps, technology is used to complement traditional teaching methods and cater to different learning styles. Gemma Bailey’s NLP4Kids programmes are a testament to the power of innovative strategies. By incorporating play-based techniques, she has helped children overcome learning barriers and develop a love for education. Similarly, children's education franchises are redefining what it means to learn, making it a joyful and enriching experience. For franchisees, these strategies offer a competitive edge. By providing a unique and effective learning experience, they can attract more students and build a loyal customer base. The combination of play and learning is not just a teaching method; it’s a recipe for success. By the Ai version of Gemma Bailey https://nlp4kids.org.uk/childrens-franchise-2

Empowering Children: The Mission of Children's Education Franchises

The mission of children's education franchises is clear: to empower children to reach their full potential. These franchises go beyond traditional teaching methods, focusing on developing skills that are essential for success in the 21st century. From critical thinking to emotional intelligence, the goal is to equip children with the tools they need to navigate an ever-changing world. At the heart of this mission is the belief that every child has unique talents and abilities. Children's education franchises are designed to identify and nurture these strengths, creating a personalised learning experience for each student. This approach not only boosts academic performance but also builds self-esteem and resilience. Gemma Bailey’s work with NLP4Kids exemplifies this mission. By using neuro-linguistic programming techniques, she has helped countless children overcome challenges and unlock their potential. Similarly, children's education franchises leverage innovative strategies to make learning both effective and enjoyable. For entrepreneurs, investing in a children's education franchise is more than a business decision; it’s a commitment to shaping the future. These franchises offer a unique blend of social impact and financial reward, making them an attractive option for those who want to make a difference. By empowering children today, we are building a brighter tomorrow. By the Ai version of Gemma Bailey https://nlp4kids.org.uk/childrens-franchise-2

Nurturing Lifelong Learners: The Children's Education Franchise Approach

Education is the cornerstone of personal and societal growth, and children's education franchises play a pivotal role in shaping young minds. These franchises are not just businesses; they are platforms for nurturing lifelong learners. By combining innovative teaching methods with a structured franchise model, they create environments where children thrive academically and personally. The philosophy behind an education franchise is simple yet profound: to make learning engaging, accessible, and impactful. For entrepreneurs, this model offers a unique opportunity to contribute to society while building a sustainable business. Gemma Bailey, the founder of NLP4Kids, has long championed the idea that education should be both empowering and enjoyable. Her approach aligns perfectly with the ethos of children's education franchises, which prioritise holistic development over rote learning. One of the key advantages of investing in a children's education franchise is the proven methodology. These franchises often come with tried-and-tested curricula, training programmes, and support systems that ensure consistency and quality. Whether it’s through hands-on activities, interactive lessons, or creative problem-solving exercises, the focus is always on fostering curiosity and confidence in young learners. For parents, an education franchise provides peace of mind, knowing their children are in a nurturing and stimulating environment. For franchisees, it’s a chance to make a meaningful difference while achieving entrepreneurial success. The synergy between educational impact and business growth is what makes children's education franchises a compelling choice for aspiring business owners. Our NLP4Kids Book

NLP4Kids is delighted to announce their first edition of a inspiring book called “Stop Anxiety and Grow Confidence’. The book is currently being preorder at a fast rate and the publication date will be the 1st October 2016. We are delighted to know that this book can act as a guidance for parents and teachers in order to help them with children who suffer anxiety and confidence challenges.

It is clear that mental health in children and young people is in the increase and we at NLP4Kids believe that the most vulnerable group is suffering from emotional challenges in their daily lives. Children lives are evolve around their parents and their teachers. We at NLP4Kids believe that ‘Stop Anxiety and Grow Confidence’ book can offer parents and teachers a perspective on how the issue has increased and how it can lead to a bigger issue, if we fail to do nothing. We acknowledge that parents may find it hard to cope and support a child who may be suffering from anxiety, depression or stress.

Therefore, the book contains NLP4Kids case studies and a variety of techniques and guidance to support parents and teachers through a diffcult time with a child. In addition, the book also contains a ‘Communication’ section with details about how to improve mental well-being. NLP4Kids believe that mental health issues and other emotional challenges will not decrease unless we take action and acknowledge they are present.

The author Gemma Bailey, is the Director of NLP4Kids. She has many years of experience with children and was once a nursery manager. Since then she learned and used them for helping children overcome anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. Gemma has trains and mentors all the NLP4Kids team, she continues our own coaching practice and delivers workshops in schools across the UK for pupils, parents and teachers. Gemma was inspired to write this book when she was holding several webinars during the summer on confidence, anxiety, communication skills and mental well-being.

When holding the webinars, Gemma realised the extent of the emotional challenges that were present in society today. She knew that she couldn’t help the world but by producing a book she could at least help a certain amount of parents and teachers; which will have a substantial effect for children who are suffering and need guidance and support. NLP4Kids believe that any good deed shouldn’t go without notice.

In addition, Gemma also included questions and answers at the end of each subject area which gives the reader a good direction and explains what they can do for their child. The book will make readers conscious of the skills that they possess to help children and young people who are suffering with emotional challenges.

This is not a complicated book; it contains clear techniques and guidance for parents and teachers. We tend not to complicate things when it comes to parents and professionals as they feel a huge pressure on them. We want to lift that pressure and help them to help young people.
